How to Report a Problem in Your CRM

If something breaks, or a screen simply does not make sense, use Help → Report a problem in the sidebar. It is available to every user regardless of role — the person most likely to hit a bug is usually the one with the fewest permissions, and a reporting form they cannot open is a reporting form that does not exist.

What it captures without asking you

You are asked for three things. Eleven more are recorded automatically: the exact page you were on, the screen name, your role, your browser and version, your screen size, your IP, and any JavaScript error your browser recorded while the form was open.

This matters because a report saying "the leads page is broken" normally costs more time than it saves — answering it means going back to ask which page, which company, what you were doing and what you expected. All of that is already known at the moment you write the report, and none of it survives being retyped from memory.

The three boxes

Summary

One line. What would you call this if you were telling a colleague across the desk?

What happened

What you actually saw. "I clicked Save and the page went blank" is perfect.

What did you expect to happen

This is the most useful box on the form and the one people skip. It is frequently the entire answer — a large share of reported bugs turn out to be the software working as designed while the person reasonably expected something else. That is still worth fixing, but it is a different fix, and only this box reveals which kind you have.

"Not a bug — I just don't understand this screen" is a real option, and using it helps. A cluster of those about one screen is a documentation problem rather than a code defect, and it is tracked separately so it does not sit in an engineering queue where nobody will action it.

Choosing a severity

  • Blocking — you cannot do your work at all. Reserve it for that; a queue where everything is blocking has no priority order.
  • Major — something important is broken but you have a workaround.
  • Minor — annoying, not urgent.
  • Question — the screen is confusing rather than broken.

What happens next

Your report appears under My reports with its current status. If we reply, it shows on your copy of the report. Internal triage notes are kept separately and are never shown to you — that separation exists so notes can be written frankly without being customer-facing.

What is not sent

No lead data, no customer records, no contact details. The report contains the page address, your browser environment and the text you wrote. If reproducing an issue genuinely requires a specific lead, reference it by its ID number rather than pasting the person's details.

One thing that makes reports far more useful

Report it while it is happening, from the screen where it happened. The form picks up the page URL and any live JavaScript error at that moment. Filing the same report an hour later from the dashboard loses both, and those two fields are frequently the whole diagnosis.
